HUSKIES: Girls 1/9 Boys 5/9

The boys and girls track teams got back on the track at Cuyahoga Heights last night after a ten day lay off and performed well. They boys finished fifth out of nine teams, while the girls tied for first place overall with Indepenedence.

The day started off well for the Huskies with wins in Long Jump by Trisha Cesar and Discus by Jordyn Schultz. Anna Avalon finished second in Discus and also picked up a fourth in Shot Put. Mackenzie Conley jumped a lifetime best in Long Jump to place fourth. Trey Shirkey also picked up a second in Discus. Rounding out the field events were Robbie Mulh earning places in high jump and long jump, Ben Lobdell, Megan Maddox, and Trisha Cesar all placed in pole vault.

Once the running events started the Huskies continued to roll off the momentum produced in field events. The girls 4x800 of Paige Webb, Lauren Dines, Megan Maddox, and Camille Cummins ran a season best time to place 4th. Kyle Simms, making his season debut, placed 3rd in the 110 Hurdles and 300 hurdles, where points were also picked up Hayden Cummins. Erin Ross placed first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles convincingly. The girls 4x200 of Cesar, Marina Cooper, Ross, and Anna Blubaugh ran to a 2nd place finish, which Blubaugh later replicated in the 400. The boys 4x200 of Connor Sodee, Jake Revak, Ben Lobdell, and Michael Lucarelli ran to 3rd place setting a season best time by 5 seconds. Taylor Zeigler took 5th in the 300 hurdles and ran great opening legs on the 4x100 and 4x400. Megan Maddox placed in the 800, Cesar was 3rd in the 200, where Blubaugh was 6th, and Cummins placed 6th in the mile. The run of the night may have come from the two girls two miler, Jenna Ayer and Ashley Peterson who picked up crucial points at the right time. Ben Lobdell placed in the 400, Luke Timas placed in the 800, and both 4x400 relays ran season bests.

It was a very productive night on the track and in the field events for the Huskies. The teams are back in action Thursday 4/13 at Orange.
